About Us
RHONDA joined Safety Flare in 1996 after a phone call and visit home to see if she would like to return to the Albuquerque area and take over the business so Nahoma (Mom) and Carl (Dad) could retire. It has been an interesting transition from career aircraft mechanic to business owner, but she feels fortunate to be enjoying a second career path. She has a unique insight on the safety supply side of the business, having been an end user for most of her former career. She has also attended training on gas monitors, ventilating equipment and fall protection, including being factory certified on two brands of gas monitors. It is not unusual to find her in the fire extinguisher shop servicing fire extinguishers or out on job sites helping with safety plans! She enjoys her three Daschunds in her spare time and riding her new Harley. Rhonda also enjoys helping spread the word on motorcycle safety and participating in charity events to raise money for those less fortunate in New Mexico!
ROY has been part of the Safety Flare family since 1995. He is currently VP of Safety Flare and is in charge of the fire extinguisher service end of the building. Roy grew up cattle ranching and working construction. He is an accomplished welder with a extremely varied background that included heavy construction and specialized test projects as well as having taught for many years at TVI. His extensive background in construction proves most helpful to be able to offer our customers options they may not have thought of for unique situations that require special needs. Roy has enjoyed a wonderful life with his beautiful wife Sally and together they have raised twin girls and a son and are the proud grandparents of too many to count!
KATHLEEN (KAT) joined Safety Flare in 2006 as Office Manager. Our "hold it all together" girl, she currently oversees sales and part of purchasing. Kat has extensive customer service experience and truly believes the customer comes first! Born and raised in Colorado Springs Colorado, Kat came to New Mexico to enjoy all that the Land of Enchantment has to offer. Kat worked in the Insurance field for many years prior to joining us and is looking forward to all the knowledge she is acquiring about the safety industry. Having raised two girls as a single parent Kat is now enjoying life on her own and discovering all the fun it has to offer! Kat has a granddaughter Shayann and grandson Eddie, both of whom are the light of her life!
BARB came on board in 2008 to become our permanent bookeeper. She brings with her a Bachelors Degree in accounting from the University of Phoenix, many years of experience, and a great "gitr done" attitude! She also sets the fire extinguisher service appointments and helps out with customer service. When she is not watching our bottom line she enjoys riding her Harley and promoting mortorcycle safety! She is a lobbyist for motorcyclist rights in New Mexico and is involved with all the motorcyle groups and clubs both statewide and nationwide. We love her no nonsense business approach and warm kind heart!
MIKE came to Safety Flare in 2006 as a fire extinguisher service technician. He provides outside service of fire extinguishers and assists with sales both inside and outside the shop. Mike is retired Navy and brings with him a wealth of experience, knowledge and training in fire services. Mike is also a Volunteer Fire Fighter for Santa Fe County and is a first responder to those in need! Mike enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and and two daughters in local church activities and scouting.
JEFF came to Safety Flare in 2007 following a mission in Chile. He speaks Spanish and helps with our Spanish speaking customers. Jeff attends CNM College and is majoring in Business. He is learning everything he can here at Safety Flare and hopes to sit in the boss's chair one day! He assists with fire extinguisher maintenance, inventory, purchasing, gas monitor maintenance/training and customer service. We try to keep him busy! If you have a question he most likely will have the answer! In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and girlfriend camping and hunting.
